Dark chocolate salted almonds
Ok so I am currently in a bit of a phase where I love playing with flavour combinations that enhance & compliment each other. Since it's February, Valentine’s month where chocolate and sweet things are all around us, I thought I'd play by the rules and put a healthy twist on it.
Dark Chocolate Salted Almonds
These little goodies are packed with flavour and perfect as a treat, with the benefit of being high in fibre and healthy unsaturated fats.
1 Slab dark bittersweet chocolate
1 cup raw almonds
1 tsp cinnamon
1 Tbs flaked sea salt
1 Tbs stevia granules or raw coconut sugar (optional)
Line a baking tray with non stick paper or a baking sheet
Spread the almonds out on the tray and bake at 150 degrees celsius for 10 mins until lightly toasted.
Melt the chocolate in a heat proof bowl over hot water on the stove, or in the microwave and stir until soft and silky.
Stir the almonds into the melted chocolate until well coated and pick them out individually with kitchen tongs, placing them on the baking tray.
Sprinkle the almonds with the sea salt, raw coconut sugar/stevia and cinnamon and allow to cool.
Place them in the fridge for 20 mins.
Pull the almonds off the tray and serve in a beautiful bowl or place them in a jar and give it to someone special as a gift.
